Minutes of Carmunnock Community Council
Monday 1st October 2018
Castlemilk Hall 7.00pm

Present: John Lawless, Ashley Montague, Roy Laing, Angus MacDonald,Councillor Margaret
Morgan, Marion Begg and the representatives from the Police Force (Mary MacIntyre and
Derek Coyle).
Apologies: Alex Tomeny, Derek Scott, Margaret Muirhead and Robert Cochrane.

Police Report: Two reports of house break-ins where two cars had been stolen and one dog.
Police have been using CCTV around the village to catch the perpetrators. Since the
community council meeting the dog has been returned to the owners. Police highlight the
need to keep car keys hidden from public view.

Minutes of last meeting: proposed by John and seconded by Roy.

 The city council now put the information for the community councils from Glasgow
city council online at: https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=21056
 The matters that are concerned with community councils that have recently been
added are; Community Council Development Session – Saturday 10th November
 The community council received an invite to attend an open evening in The Prince and
Princess of Wales Hospice teams new building at Bellahouston Park but are unable to
attend as the dates coincide with the AGM meeting on Tuesday 23nd of October.
 The community council have been asked to sponsor a ‘Tommy’ that will sit on a
church pew for the commemoration of world war two. The cost of one is £42 and the
community council will sponsor one of the eight ‘tommys’.

Finance: No income has been received nor any outgoings.
Current balances are as of 1st October; General Funds £357.34. Legal Expenses Fund

Planning and Licensing.
 Proposal on Stuart Road for an extension at the rear, council finds no objections
with this.

Roads and Lighting
 Repairs to busby road at the cross and at Picketlaw due to potholes has been carried
out promptly and to a good standard.
 No news on the 20mph zone as waiting for Glasgow city council to have a meeting
about implementation of new speed limit.
 Busby Road – A complaint from Carmunnock resident to Glasgow city council
regarding the overhanging foliage at the retaining wall. Council replied they have put
down weed killer so problem should end shortly. This hasn’t been seen as a sufficient
solution so CouncillorMorgan will look further into this.
 Linn Area Committee – Councillor Morgan is now chair of the committee and Grant for
park equipment will be sent as soon as annual accounts are finalised.

 Windpark Trust – Grant applied for park sent in.
 Broadband – John is going to talk to Robert about contacting BT regarding slow
internet access.

 The newsletter will be issued within the next couple of weeks.
 Royal Mail poster in the notice board warning of scam mail
 Councillor Morgan received correspondence regarding professional dog walkers and it
outlines the councils position is that there are no legislative powers however if the
dogs are not under reasonable control (e.g. causing annoyance, offence, alarm or
distress) you can take note of their number and tell the council and they will have a
word with them.
